NHL Hockey Totals Over/Under
When you're betting total in hockey you're basically going to see one of three numbers. Either 5, 5.5 or 6. That's it. That's the total that the oddsmaker will post on your nightly NHL schedule. If you see a game with a posted total of 5 you know that this game features either a couple teams having trouble finding the net lately or there's at least one strong defensive team in the matchup. You'll find most game listed at 5.5. The average goals scored per game around the league this season is three goals per team. Take a look at the scores on a Saturday night and look how many 3-2 and 4-2 games there are. A lot huh? That's why 5.5 is your typical NHL total. Games with a posted total of 6 are rare. This only happens when two high-scoring teams collide. Remember though the average goals scored is still three per team so just because the posted total is 6 doesn't mean the red lamp is going to stay lit all night.
