NHL Betting: Stanley Cup Final Outlook
May 26, 2012
Martin Brodeur and the New Jersey Devils will go up against Anze Kopitar and the Los Angeles Kings as the clubs try to pay off on the NHL betting lines and win the 2012 Stanley Cup.
The Devils took care of business against the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference final, clinching the series with a 3-2 overtime victory in Game 6 of the set on Friday night.
That followed New Jersey's five-game win over the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round of the playoffs. The Devils needed six games to get past the Florida Panthers in the opening round.
The Kings have had an easier time in the postseason, and they've been resting up for the Stanley Cup final after beating the Phoenix Coyotes in just fives games in the Western Conference final.
Los Angeles dispatched the Vancouver Canucks (first round) and St. Louis Blues (second round) in a combined nine games to reach the Western final; they've played just 14 games in three rounds.
New Jersey has battled through 18 games over the first three rounds of the playoffs, and they opened as home underdogs on the NHL lines at the sportsbooks for Game 1 on Wednesday night.
Goals are expected to be at a premium in the Stanley Cup final between the Devils and Kings in the next two weeks, with the opening OVER/UNDER for Game 1 of the series set at just 4.5.
